Examples of Glazes

The outer surface is often left unglazed so that in the firing it picks up ‘wood ash’ – really vapourised chemicals in the wood which form effectively a varied appearance a little like the top of a loaf of bread. It is a glaze in its own right and each piece is individual.

All glazes are formulated and mixed at the pottery.
